🇩🇪 A Taste of Oktoberfest in the Heart of NYC

Oktoberfest is about much more than beer. The tradition dates back more than 200 years to Bavaria and has grown into a worldwide celebration of German culture.

New York City’s celebration brings that spirit directly to Central Park with an afternoon centered around German tradition, food, drinks, music and community.

Whether you have German roots, attend the Steuben Parade every year or are simply searching for a fun fall event in NYC, this is an opportunity to experience a taste of Oktoberfest without leaving Manhattan.

🎶 Live German Music & Entertainment

Live music is an important part of the festivities, with Die Spitzbuam scheduled to perform during the 2026 celebration.

Guests can also look forward to the 2026 Lenny Coyne Memorial Hofbräu USA Masskrugstemmen Competition — the traditional stein-holding competition that puts contestants’ strength and endurance to the test.

Grab a beer, enjoy the music and soak up the atmosphere as Central Park transforms into a German-American celebration.

🥨 Food, Beer & German Tradition

Come hungry and ready to celebrate.

Oktoberfest brings together the things that have made the tradition famous around the world: food, beer, music and friendship, all surrounded by the energy of New York City.

It’s an afternoon designed for gathering with friends and family, experiencing German-American culture and enjoying one of NYC’s signature September celebrations.

🗽 Make a Day of the German-American Steuben Parade

The celebration doesn’t have to start at Oktoberfest.

The 69th Annual German-American Steuben Parade takes place earlier that same day, Saturday, September 19, continuing a New York tradition that dates back to 1957.

The parade celebrates German, Austrian and Swiss-American heritage with traditional costumes, marching bands, floats, dance groups and organizations traveling up Fifth Avenue.

The parade steps off at 12 noon, with Oktoberfest following afterward in Central Park.

That means you can experience the parade and Oktoberfest together for a full day celebrating German-American culture in NYC.
