If you’re looking for Thai food in Scarsdale, New York, add Ruen Bongkot to your Westchester restaurant list. We recently stopped in for a meal and tried everything from classic chicken satay and pineapple fried rice to whole red snapper and a comforting tangerine ginger hot pot.
One thing I loved about our visit was being able to order several different dishes and experience a variety of flavors from sweet and savory to spicy, tangy and aromatic.
What We Ordered at Ruen Bongkot
We started with the chicken satay, served as tender, flavorful chicken skewers that are perfect for sharing. We also tried the chicken wings, another easy starter for the table.
One of the dishes that really caught our attention was the tangerine ginger hot pot. It was warm, aromatic and packed with those bright citrus and ginger flavors that make you want to keep going back for another bite.
Of course, we couldn’t visit a Thai restaurant without ordering some rice. The pineapple fried rice delivered that combination of savory and slightly sweet flavors that works especially well alongside some of the spicier entrées.
Seafood Lovers, Don’t Skip These
For seafood, we went all in.
The whole red snapper with mango was definitely one of the showstoppers at the table. There’s something about bringing out an entire fish that immediately gets everyone’s attention, and the combination of the fish with mango brought together savory, sweet and tangy flavors.
We also tried the mango salmon, another great option if you love seafood but prefer salmon over a whole fish.
And to round everything out, we ordered Pad Kaiju, giving us a table full of different textures and flavors to share.
