If you’re looking for a family-friendly Halloween experience in Westchester County that’s more magical than scary, put Mystic Moon at Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard on your fall bucket list.
Located at 130 Hardscrabble Road in North Salem, New York, Mystic Moon transforms the woods at Harvest Moon into an illuminated nighttime adventure filled with colorful lights, music, whimsical characters, witches, glowing forests, spooky graveyard scenes and plenty of photo opportunities.
The 2026 season begins September 18 and runs on select nights through November 1, with timed admission. Current listings show tickets starting around $23.55, while pricing varies depending on the date and ticket type; children 3 and under are free.
What Is Mystic Moon?
Think Halloween without the terrifying haunted-house factor.
Mystic Moon is designed as an immersive nighttime walk through Harvest Moon’s orchard and woods. The experience takes roughly 30–45 minutes, depending on how quickly you walk and how many times you stop for pictures or to interact with the characters. The attraction is specifically designed to be whimsical and family-friendly, with no jump scares.
The lights were absolutely beautiful. Between the glowing trees, fog, oversized mushrooms, witches, characters and other surprises throughout the woods, there was constantly something for the kids to look at.
We went with children of different ages, and everyone had fun. I also loved that it wasn’t something that only the kids could enjoy, the lighting and overall production make it a fun fall night out for adults too.
Is Mystic Moon Good for Toddlers?
Yes! This is one Halloween attraction I would absolutely consider for families with little ones.
There are even Twilight Hour admission times intended for younger children who may prefer seeing the attraction while there is still a little more natural light outside.
And yes, strollers are allowed—but here’s my biggest tip: bring a GOOD stroller.
The trail is stroller-friendly in the sense that you can bring one, but this isn’t a smooth paved walkway. You’re walking through a farm and wooded area with gravel, hills and uneven natural terrain. Harvest Moon specifically recommends an all-terrain stroller, and after doing it ourselves, I agree.
We got caught up a couple of times with our stroller, so those bigger wheels will make your night much easier.
What to Wear: Leave the Chonclas at Home 😂
Seriously.
Sneakers or boots. That’s it.
The property is rocky and uneven in places, especially once you’re walking through the darker portions of the trail. Harvest Moon also recommends comfortable, appropriate footwear because of the natural terrain.
This is NOT the night to show up trying to walk through the woods in chonclas, heels or cute little shoes with zero traction. 😂
Wear comfortable sneakers or boots, dress in layers and remember that you’re on a farm in Northern Westchester at night.
Food, Drinks & More After the Trail
Don’t feel like you have to leave as soon as Mystic Moon ends.
Harvest Moon has seasonal food and drinks available, including treats, hot beverages, sweet cider for kids and adult beverages, including its signature hard cider. Many families stick around afterward rather than treating Mystic Moon as just a quick walk-through.
There is also free on-site parking, which makes this an especially easy family outing.

Is Mystic Moon Worth Visiting?
For us, Mystic Moon was such a fun family night out. The kids enjoyed the characters and surprises, while the adults could appreciate how beautiful the woods looked completely transformed by the lighting, fog and displays.
